Reverend Dr. Cardes H. Brown, Jr., the son of the late Reverend Cardes H. Brown, Sr. and the late Mrs. Jocile Powell Brown, was born in Rocky Mount, North Carolina and attended Booker T. Washington High School. At nineteen years of age during his sophomore year at North Carolina A&T State University, he accepted the calling of God to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ.
For nearly fifty years he has devoted himself to pastoral ministry. He has been privilaged to serve as Pastor at various churches across NC. He has served as Pastor of the New Light Missionary Baptist Church in Greensboro, NC for nearly forty years.
Dr. Brown received his Graduate of Theology degree and Bachelor of Arts degree from the Greensboro Bible College, Master of Divinity degree from Shaw Divinity School in Raleigh, North Carolina, a Doctor of Ministry / Worship Studies from Eastern Carolina Christian College in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters from Apex School of Theology in Durham, North Carolina and an Honorary Doctor of Divinity degree from the South Eastern University in Greenville, South Carolina.
Dr. Brown has been honored by and served on many committees, commissions, boards and organizations. He is the former President of the Greensboro Branch NAACP, and is currently the State NAACP Religous Chair. He is also a member of the distinguished Morehouse College Martin Luther King, Jr. Board of Preachers. He is married to the lovely Diane Pierce Brown and is blessed with four children and six grandchildren.
